Work Package 2

Research and development of methods and algorithms for multi-modal immersive representation of implicit features of objects in virtual environments


Task 2.1: Research and analysis of existing principles, technical means and sensory channels for immersive representation of features of virtual objects

  • Activity 2.1.1: Techniques for presentation of object features in a virtual environment - review of techniques for presentation of object feature information in a virtual reality environment.
  • Activity 2.1.2: Presenting features of virtual objects through different sensory channels - research of specifics, characteristics and applicability of the different sensory channels for representing particular features of virtual objects.

Deliverables:

- Report for the conducted research and analysis of methods and technical means

- Report for the conducted research of the applicability of different sensory channels for representation of features of virtual objects

 


Task 2.2: Creation of methods and algorithms for immersive representation of implicit features of virtual objects through an appropriate single or combined stimulation of multiple sensory channels.

  • Activity 2.2.1: Development of methods for multisensory representation - development of new methods for multisensory representation of the virtual objects.
  • Activity 2.2.2: Research of their application for enhancing the immersive perception of the virtual world.
  • Activity 2.2.3: Compensating the losses in the description of non-geometrical features of the objects - research of the possibilities for compensating the losses in the description of non-geometrical features of the objects by the conventional approach for their transfer from the geometric modeling environment into the virtual world.

Deliverables:

- Description of methods for multisensory representation of virtual objects

- Report for the conducted research for improvement of the immersive perception and compensation of the losses in the description

 


Task 2.3: Development of methods and algorithms for addition and modification of implicit features of virtual objects directly in the virtual environment.

  • Activity 2.3.1: Methods and algorithms for modification of features directly in the virtual world - revelopment of new methods and algorithms for addition and modification of features directly in the virtual world itself.

Deliverables:

- Description of the developed methods and algorithms for addition and modification of features directly in the virtual world
